چکیده

Abstract: The shear strength and stick-slip behavior of a rough rock joint are analyzed using the 8 complex network approach. We develop a network approach on correlation patterns of void 9 spaces of an evolvable rough fracture (crack type II). Correlation among networks properties 10 with the hydro -mechanical attributes (obtained from experimental tests) of fracture before and 11 after slip is the direct result of the revealed non-contacts networks. Joint distribution of locally 12 and globally filtered correlation gives a close relation to the contact zones attachment13 detachment sequences through the evolution of shear strength of the rock joint. Especially spread 14 of node’s degree rate to spread of clustering coefficient rate yielded possible stick and slip 15 sequences during the displacements. Our method can be developed to investigate the complexity 16

Numerical Investigation of dip angle direction of foundation Joint on nonlinear dynamic response of concrete gravity dams

The stability of a gravity dam on a jointed rock foundation might be endangered by weak joints that may be present in the fracture network of the bed rock. A review of the literature shows that there are few studies of the effect of a weak joint in the foundation rock on the stability of dams. This research uses the finite difference numerical modelling software ABAQUS to model a gravity dam, t...

Connections, Communication and Collaboration in Healthcare’s Complex Adaptive Systems; Comment on “Using Complexity and Network Concepts to Inform Healthcare Knowledge Translation”

A more sophisticated understanding of the unpredictable, disorderly and unstable aspects of healthcare organisations is developing in the knowledge translation (KT) literature. In an article published in this journal, Kitson et al introduced a new model for KT in healthcare based on complexity theory. The Knowledge Translation Complexity Network Model (KTCNM) provides a fresh perspective by mak...

The Globalization of Higher Education from the Perspective of the Paradigm of Chaos

The present paper emphasizes that the theory of complexity in the paradigm of complexity while endorsing many of the previous views on the internationalization of higher education and its importance, looks at it from a key and network perspective, and warns researchers not to fall into the abyss of control and delivery. Accepting and emphasizing proposals such as "distribution control" provide...

A Laboratory Study on Stress Dependency of Joint Transmissivity and its Modeling with Neural Networks, Fuzzy Method and Regression Analysis

Correct estimation of water inflow into underground excavations can decrease safety risks and associated costs. Researchers have proposed different methods to asses this value. It has been proved that water transmissivity of a rock joint is a function of factors, such as normal stress, joint roughness and its size and water pressure therefore, a laboratory setup was proposed to quantitatively m...

Using Complexity to Simplify Knowledge Translation; Comment on “Using Complexity and Network Concepts to Inform Healthcare Knowledge Translation”

Putting health theories, research and knowledge into practice is a challenge referred to as the knowledge-toaction gap. Knowledge translation (KT), and its related concepts of knowledge mobilization, implementation science and research impact, emerged to mitigate this gap. While the social interaction view of KT has gained currency, scholars have not easily made a link between KT and the concep...
